The team behind ETERNAL SPARK: Enrico Lumini

Founded by Antonio Romano and Enrico Lumini, Hot Lab has been synonymous with innovative yacht design since 2004. As part of the Viken Group from 2022 onward, Hot Lab continues to push the boundaries of nautical architecture, exemplified by their latest masterpiece, the 50-meter superyacht ETERNAL SPARK.

Hot Lab’s inception was driven by a shared vision between Antonio Romano and Enrico Lumini to redefine yacht design. Their early projects quickly garnered attention for their meticulous design research and sophisticated aesthetics.

The firm’s philosophy, encapsulated in “Architecture for Voyagers,” views each yacht as a holistic entity where interior and exterior seamlessly blend, creating a unified and timeless work of art.

This approach has led Hot Lab to collaborate with some of the top shipyards globally, guiding and consulting clients through every phase of their yacht’s design and construction. Their dedication to creating bespoke spaces that combine comfort, aesthetic appeal, and functionality has set them apart in the competitive world of yacht design.

Hot Lab’s Pedigree

Over the years, Hot Lab has built a robust portfolio that showcases their creative vision and commitment to craftsmanship.

Their work has been honored with numerous global awards, including the World Superyacht Awards, ShowBoats Design Awards, and World Yachts Trophies. These accolades are a testament to their innovative designs and dedication to excellence.

This philosophy emphasizes the integration of interior and exterior spaces, ensuring that every component contributes to the overall harmony and aesthetic of the yacht. By viewing the yacht as an undivided entity, Hot Lab creates timeless and innovative designs.

Enrico Lumini’s Journey with ETERNAL SPARK

Reflecting on his career, Lumini often emphasizes the pivotal role that Bilgin Yachts has played in his professional journey. “In some way, you can say that our career began in Turkey,” he shares. It was around 15 years ago, with the design of a 38-meter yacht for Bilgin, that Lumini experienced a turning point.

This project, though not his first, marked a significant step in establishing his firm’s reputation in the luxury yacht industry.

The partnership with Bilgin Yachts was more than just a professional collaboration; it was a formative experience that shaped Lumini’s design philosophy.

Working in Turkey, he was exposed to a blend of tradition and innovation that would later influence his approach to yacht interiors. This early project laid the foundation for a relationship built on mutual respect and shared aspirations, which would come full circle years later with ETERNAL SPARK.

Crafting ETERNAL SPARK

When Bilgin Yachts reached out to collaborate on a new 50-meter series, Lumini and his team at Hot Lab were entrusted with crafting ETERNAL SPARK’s interiors.

“With ETERNAL SPARK, we wanted to work in a very specific direction,” Lumini explains.

The design of ETERNAL SPARK was approached with a clear vision: to create an interior that was both functional and continually surprising.

To achieve this, Lumini and his team focused on variety and uniqueness. Each cabin and environment within the yacht was designed to offer a distinct look and feel, ensuring that there was always something new to discover.

The aim was to design a space that would captivate and enchant its guests, whether they were stepping on board for the first time or returning for another charter season.

This approach required working with a diverse range of materials and colors, crafting each space with meticulous detail to create a sense of constant novelty.

Functionality Meets Luxury

In addition to her aesthetic appeal, ETERNAL SPARK was designed primarily with the charter market in mind.  The design needed to accommodate various uses and preferences, providing a versatile and enjoyable experience for all guests.

“The task was to create the yacht for a broader charter audience, a successful charter vessel,” Lumini notes. This meant that functionality had to go hand-in-hand with luxury.

This dual focus on functionality and uniqueness was a complex challenge. It required a collaborative effort involving the shipyard, suppliers, consultants, and the entire Hot Lab team.

A Collaborative Effort

The creation of ETERNAL SPARK was a collaborative effort and the project spanned over four years, with constant communication and collaboration ensuring that every aspect of the yacht met the highest standards.

Hot Lab’s ability to blend style and luxury with sustainability reflects a forward-thinking approach that is increasingly important in today’s world. ETERNAL SPARK is thus a testament to this vision, offering an unforgettable experience for those seeking extraordinary adventures on the high seas.

Looking Ahead

With a philosophy that views yachts as holistic entities and a dedication to creating timeless masterpieces, Hot Lab is poised to continue setting new standards in the luxury maritime industry.
