ETERNAL SPARK at the Monaco Yacht Show: Full Report

Monaco Yacht show, in its 2024 edition, featured many new additions to the program; sustainability hubs, a more diverse range of exhibitors, bigger and better yachts. The show was also the stage for ETERNAL SPARK`s MYS debut, which saw over 400 conducted tours of the yacht, hundreds of business cards exchanged, dozens of cases of champagne enjoyed and more than 500 interested parties that visited ETERNAL SPARK from the 25th to the 28th of September in Monaco.

Monaco Yacht Show 2024 was busy from the start – the exhibition stands were being prepared several days in advance, the ETERNAL SPARK yacht crew was receiving last-minute provisions, and an army of workers was going up and down the port, carrying heavy loads with ant-like strength.

All of this was incredible to witness, especially because in less than 24 hours, the same congested and busy area featured the most prestigious assembly of yachts and luxury crafts in the world.

Arriving at the MYS 2024 was no easy feat, especially considering the extra baggage needed to organise the show. Extra speakers for the cocktail parties, extra glassware and several cases of champagne (just in case) needed to be delivered on ETERNAL SPARK, alongside standing provisions.

24 hours before the official start of the show, the atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation and excitement.

In this atmosphere, ETERNAL SPARK found her place on dock number C06, just across the official Bilgin exhibit area at Quai Louis II.

Analogue to the broader atmosphere, the energy of the ETERNAL SPARK yacht crew was palpably electrifying and there were several teams of extra day workers hired, to keep every surface clean and pristine.

The interior team also served guests and VIPs with coffee and champagne, as they were welcomed to explore the yacht in the company of guides from the ETERNAL SPARK yacht management team.

Even at full speed, the crew still managed to handle their obligations and duties, while abiding to demanding superyacht standards. Also, Bilgin’s exhibition area was in the perfect position to oversee the pre-show preparations and exercise an on-hand approach during the show’s development.

Chairs, shoe baskets, refreshments, sweets, merchandise, promo material, gift bags– everything needed for welcoming potential clients had to be prepared every day before the start of the show.

Not only did ETERNAL SPARK need extensive prep work inside and outside, but the Bilgins exhibit area also needed to be built from the ground up, as well as the reception desk in front of the ETERNAL SPARK yacht passarelle, which served as the only entry point onto the yacht.

The First Day of the Monaco Yacht Show

The first day saw a gradual increase in interest, as three separate marketing teams worked together to bring ETERNAL SPARK’s MYS debut into the spotlight. Since the show officially started at 10 AM, the period around breakfast was slow, but the intensity of the visits onboard increased and peaked after lunch.

It was hard to believe that the busy building site of Port Hercules transformed into an accommodating exhibition featuring more than 400 vessels of all shapes and sizes, but also several stages for keynote speakers, countless stands for yacht equipment, water toys, clothing, restaurants, lounges, bars…

It was calculated that more than 500 potential clients, brokers, managers and other relevant industry experts took a tour of ETERNAL SPARK during the entire duration of the MYS, clearly signalling a bright future for her charter calendar.

The exhibition lasted until 7 PM each day, which was also the official beginning of the first yacht cocktail party on ETERNAL SPARK.

Each day of the show (excluding Saturday) saw a different yacht party, with the first one being organised on the sundeck. For this purpose, 2 DJs from Germany were flown directly to Monaco, and special speakers and subwoofers were brought to bolster the speakers already present on the sundeck.

Bilgin`s reception area in front of the yacht doubled as a reception desk for welcoming party-goers aboard ETERNAL SPARK, where her sundeck was transformed into a party area that easily took 60 guests, with more than enough room to spare

There were three yacht parties aboard ETERNAL SPARK in total, with each one servicing a different profile of guests; interested parties and professionals, partners and associates and brokers and potential clients.

Not even the rain on the second day stopped party-goers from experiencing the glorious feeling of enjoying a glass of premium champagne on ETERNAL SPARK, while mingling with industry leaders and future charter guests.

Despite the Rain, ETERNAL SPARK Yacht Attracts More Attention

The worsening weather did not impact general interest in ETERNAL SPARK. Although rain droplets were a constant, it seemed that the audience`s wishes to experience this yacht first-hand forced them to endure “weather patterns that are very uncommon in Monaco during this time” (as specified by one of the visitors).

Thursday was also the same day the judges from the Monaco Yacht Show Award Board came onboard ETERNAL SPARK. Their thorough tour of the yacht gave them valuable insight upon which they will eventually reach a final decision about whether or not to declare some aspects of ETERNAL SPARK worthy of a first-place award.

The judges were very secretive and held onto their reactions with a strong poker face, but the intensity and regularity of smiles on their faces communicated a certain satisfaction and potentially favourable outcome for ETERNAL SPARK.

The weather kept getting worse, but even the constant rain did not stop the brokers and industry professionals from coming to see the boat and experience the innovative concept and unique design of ETERNAL SPARK. Just as the rain kept pouring, the guests also kept pouring in, wanting to experience ETERNAL SPARK in her totality.

The feedback from interested parties and potential clients was incredible, from compliments regarding the yacht’s marketing to bravados regarding the general aesthetic and layout of the yacht.

The rain, combined with onsets of strong western winds, meant that a party on the sundeck was out of the question. Luckily, the bridge deck bow on ETERNAL SPARK was more than able to accommodate a crowd of at least 50 people.

Thursday evening, the Bridge deck aft became the main party spot. The DJs set up their mix stations and started playing as planned. As the music got louder, so did the rain, but the unexpected benefit of the party was that potential clients saw shelter from the rain on ETERNAL SPARK Yacht.

The Show Reached It’s Peak on the Third Day

After a rainy Thursday, Friday welcomed a change of weather; the sun shined through the clouds and created an atmosphere fitting for the penultimate day of the Monaco Yacht Show. The warm sun dried out the last of the puddles around the superyacht stands and the soggy red carpets (which were actually blue this year).

Brokers and clients were rewarded with the perfect weather to experience ETERNAL SPARK at her full potential. Most of the crowds started coming in around noon, with a serious rush encountered just around lunchtime, and the interest did not vane until afternoon.

On the third day, the Monaco Yacht Show seemed to evolve into a fair far more crowded than in the previous days, regarding the number of visitors and the general vibe and energy being felt in the air.

The organisers did an excellent job making sure that both the exhibitors and guests had everything they needed to do their jobs to the best of their abilities.

Friday night was also the consensual night out for the crew, where they had a chance to unwind and relax after the close of the third and last yacht party aboard ETERNAL SPARK.

That day in Monaco, many different worlds seemed to come together and mingle, creating a singularity under the glitzy street lights. Some tried their luck in the casino, while others chose a relaxing walk to help their digestion after a delicious Michelin meal.

The last official party on ETERNAL SPARK becomes a hub for forming long-lasting networking and business relationships, with the spirit of the MYS captured in the kinship and bonds formed during the entire length of the show.

But more than this, the atmosphere was still electrifying with constant networking, so professionals mingled with other professionals, looking for the recognizable MYS passes hanging around their necks, or lightly folded in their evening jackets.

There was a sense of a joint purpose and a common wish to finish hard on the last workday of the Monaco Yacht Show.

Saturday – The Long Farewell

The first obvious sign that things were slowing down was the lack of traffic in the morning; usual commutes through Monaco and Monte Carlo are incredibly arduous and long-lasting, but Saturday found that there were almost no cars on the street.

Still, fewer commuters during the weekend didn’t entirely translate to fewer guests coming onboard ETERNAL SPARK. Actually, strong demand continued throughout the last day of the show as well; with lines of people that began to dwindle only as the show came to an official close.

The closing ceremony where all the exhibiting vessels blew their horns at the same time is an incredible thing to experience, although it may have been too noisy for more sensitive ears.

After the show, and after all the visitors departed, the staff of the MYS began deconstructing the exhibition stands, which continued all throughout Sunday. Parallel to this, the floating pontoons were also being disassembled, so all vessels that were docked in these areas were scheduled to relocate to a fixed part of the port docks.

Walking around the show, visitors could notice many different kinds of exhibitors, tenders and chase boats, water toys and maintenance equipment, cleaning products and specialized clothing – products of all kinds catering to one of the most lucrative industries in the world.

This also concerned ETERNAL SPARK, who had to be moved further away on the dock, to allow this to happen. The MYS staff were extremely efficient in their work of bringing down all the stands in an orderly manner, which left room for the crew of ETERNAL SPARK to begin prepping for upcoming yacht charters – a direct result of her MYS exhibition.

From ground zero of the Monaco Yacht Show

Having first arrived at the Monaco Yacht Show more than 48 hours in advance, it was hard to believe that the busy MYS workers and staff would have enough time to finish everything on schedule.

Parallel to this, it was harder still to imagine such a long road behind ETERNAL SPARK. From the moments she was conceived on paper, to the first parts of her steel hull being welded together, to the last bolt and screw in her engines and the final detail in her interior design, ETERNAL SPARK came a long way.

The pride felt the first time she was put into the water was equal to the pride felt when she was met with such an avid interest at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024.

Despite all the hurdles and delays, ETERNAL SPARK overcame all obstacles and set herself apart from her competition, the same way MYS rose above the hectic atmosphere needed to create it.

The amount of exchanged business cards during MYS was so voluminous, that when pooled together, they could circumvent ETERNAL SPARK’s side decks.

Having signed with Ocean Independence as her central agent just several months prior to MYS, the crew and managerial staff were thrilled to welcome their new colleagues onboard ETERNAL SPARK, showing them around and revealing the yacht’s many secret amenities and fantastic design.

The triumvirate of Ocean Independence, the ETERNAL SPARK management team and Bilgin Yachts formed a strong force, which managed to create such a buzz around the yacht, that there was rarely a moment without interested parties onboard.

Working together with the ETERNAL SPARK yacht crew, this triumvirate became an unstoppable marketing machine capable of attracting the majority of interest from passersby, as well as prominent brokers, their clients, yacht managers, yacht owners, industry consultants and many others.

After the show was done, the crew and staff were satisfied but exhausted. During the last breakfast aboard ETERNAL SPARK, one of the managers put it best when describing the atmosphere of the Monaco Yacht Show:

„All the world is a stage, and the people, merely actors“
